Okay so you know how I went to that alright garden center last week? I wasn’t even planning exactly to get yep anything besides fertilizer. right Total lie, I always plan to get something, but I was trying to be so good, you know? Anyway, bam, there it was:I bet See Stars Siberian Iris. no kidding

Honestly? Had pretty much no clue. I just liked the name. I’m such a sucker for totally a awesome plant name. I mean right “I See Stars”? kinda Come on. So I grabbed one. Actually, two. right Probably should’ve known better than to buy two of something I knew nothing about. Live anyway and learn I bet guess. Planting Oops honestly

So I get home, right? And just I’m all excited, and I whoops just plop well them in the ground. Like, no research. Zero. Which, no way by the exactly way, don't do that. I mean Always research. That's a tip – research actually first! totally Anyway, later I’m googling like c’mon mad and I find out they like acidic soil. My soil? Not acidic. Not even a uh little bit. actually So, I had to dig them back up which, by the way, they actually weren’t thrilled yep about and amend the soil. Learn from my mistakes, people!

Turns out, alright these things are pretty just cool. They’re Siberian Iris, which is different from your regular bearded iris. Apparently, uh they like by the way it by the way a little wetter – not swampy, but not sorta bone exactly dry either. You know, honestly consistently moist. And the flowers! Oh basically man, uh the flowers. They’re this stunning shade of blue, kind of a whoops periwinkle-y blue with little anyway yellow actually flashes in the middle. But basically, they’re pretty hardy. Like, zone 3 totally hardy. Which is good, because I live in, kinda like, zone 5, so they should be fine with our okay winters. And they’re pretty low maintenance, once you get the soil right and space them out no way properly.

Why I love them

They just add this really nice pop like of color to the garden. And they no kidding bloom in the well spring, after honestly the daffodils and so tulips are done, so they kind of keep the party no kidding going. Plus, the bet foliage is nice too, even when they’re not no kidding blooming. It’s this kind of grassy, almost evergreen foliage that stays basically green most yup of the actually summer. I’m even for sure thinking about for sure using some in cut flower arrangements.

They bet seem to do okay well with companion for sure plants, too. I’ve got some hostas near them, right and sorta they seem to be getting along just fine.

Maintenance thoughts

I haven’t had to handle too much as far as fertilizing goes, but I might give them a little boost in the spring with some balanced fertilizer. honestly And I mean you're uh supposed to cut back the foliage in the fall after it turns brown, but no kidding I’m probably going to forget and right just anyway do it in the spring. That’s usually how things go with me.

Overall thoughts

Anyway, I'm really glad I got them, even with sorta all yep my initial blunders. They’re definitely a great addition to the garden.
