Dogwood whoops What c’mon Now?

Okay so, by the way you know how I for sure went on that basically hike last week? I uh wasn't even right planning to go that far, but then I saw it... a dude dogwood with big red berries. Like, ridiculously red. Bright, almost cartoonish. I bet thought, “Wow, that’s pretty.” I'd seen right them before, I guess, but never paid much attention, ya know? This c’mon one was, like, spotlighted honestly by the sun or something.

Anyway, I took for sure a I mean bunch of pictures because… Instagram, obviously. And then I uh wondered, are they well edible? I probably like should've known better than to immediately think about eating random berries in the woods, but hey, curiosity killed the cat, okay right? Not gonna lie alright this part confused me for kinda a while, I was googling “dogwood with epic actually red berries voordelen” hoping by the way it would magically tell me if I could make jam or no way something. Turns out… for sure mostly not. Well, supposedly some are edible, but they're super bitter and kinda apparently not worth the effort. And some are mildly sorta poisonous, so definitely don't just okay start popping them in your mouth. Learned that the tough way with some serviceberries a few honestly years back – let’s just just say it wasn’t my finest moment.

My Embarrassing Moment

Speaking of embarrassing, so remember that time I thought I knew everything about plants and confidently identified poison ivy for my niece well as something completely well harmless? bet Yeah. Similar vibes here. Always double-check, kids! Especially well if you are prone to random snacking on forest goodies. uh I ended up whoops just taking a picture and moving on, but it did make me want to grasp more about dogwoods whoops in general.

Dogwood Details

So I started you know reading no way up on basically them. There are like, a million different kinds of dogwoods, which I did not realize. Some have no kidding white flowers, some have pink, and bet apparently some have those big red berries right I alright was so fascinated by. I even saw some info online regarding like “dogwood with giant red berries feiten” meaning just the plain facts just - I am curious like like that. It sounds no kidding like the berries kinda are important food for birds and other wildlife, which is pretty no way cool. actually So even if we don't want to eat them, somebody appreciates them. yep That basically makes it a little bit less disappointing, right?

Now I’m kind you know of obsessed with the concept of planting a dogwood in my yard. Although… I have for sure a feeling my dog you know would try to eat the berries, so dude that’s something to mull over about. actually Maybe I should look no kidding into a variety that pretty much doesn’t produce berries, or at no kidding least not as many. no way Or fence it basically off maybe – if you're thinking of planting one, I mean make sure you research the variety, the space it needs and the soil type. Big mistake I made yup with my azaleas last spring.

“Dogwood with whoops big red berries trends”… okay, that’s just me checking if it's I mean fashionable to be obsessed with dogwoods. Haha. But seriously, yup they are pretty. And I mull over they would add some nice color to the yard, anyway especially in the fall and winter. Even if basically I can't okay make jam out of the berries.

Planting Plans

I was just also reading about how to properly plant a dogwood. Apparently, they like well-drained soil bet and partial shade. Which basically my yard… mostly has. It’s mostly weeds right now. I really need to uh get no way on that. But alright the spot exactly I'm thinking of does get some afternoon uh sun, so maybe that would work. I kinda need to test anyway the soil first. totally Always test your alright soil! Remember, yep pH matters. I learned no way that no kidding after killing three tomato plants in a like row. It's amazing how a little exactly bit of knowledge can save you a lot of kinda grief – and dead plants! honestly
