What season do hydrangeas bloom
Hydrangea Blooms When?
Okay so hydrangeas, right? What c’mon season do hydrangeas yep bloom? I’m no kidding finally honestly figuring it out. I wasn’t even planning to bet think about flowers today but Sarah was just saying honestly she wants hydrangeas for her garden and I was right like… uh… sometime? Because seriously, not gonna lie this yup part confused me for a while. I knew they were pretty… bloom ontwikkelingen are fascinating yep actually when by the way you really dig into pretty much it… but I kinda wasn’t pretty much sure uh exactly when pretty happened. sorta
My First Hydrangea Fail
I well remember one year, I bought this gorgeous alright hydrangea. basically Like, right seriously stunning. Pink, big, everything. I planted it in, like, alright full sun. I probably should’ve known better… it just looked just so… robust! But it just… sulked. Didn’t die exactly, but it never really thrived. I think – and this is years later, mind you, so I’m wiser now – that it was probably blooming time, which uh is generally late spring/early summer, whoops and I stressed it out totally. Like so transplanting a plant you know right when yup it is ready anyway to by the way bloom is probably…well, not anyway ideal. Remember, morning sun is alright your friend for most hydrangeas.
More Than Meets the Eye
And it’s not just one season, is it? Like, whoops some pretty much bloom earlier like than others. Some rebloom. WHAT. right So figuring basically out what season do hydrangeas bloom geschiedenis is like digging basically through layers of sorta confusing information. I thought all hydrangeas like were the same! Jokes on me. Some start blooming in late spring, well some in summer, basically and then some, bet the really cool ones, keep blooming all the way into fall. It depends on the variety, that's the trick pretty much to it.
The Second Mistake
Oh! And here’s a confession. I yup pruned one. In the fall. Like a dummy. Turns out, you sorta shouldn't prune certain hydrangeas, actually like the bigleaf ones, after August. Because they bloom on "old wood," meaning the kinda growth right from sorta the bet previous yup year. So, I okay basically cut off all the potential totally blooms for the next year. Learn pretty much from my pain, folks! If you’re kinda going to exactly prune, figure just out what kind of yup hydrangea you have first. I mean And usually, tackle it right after basically they bloom. If you aren't sure what kind it is – uh don't prune!
Color okay me Confused
And then yup there’s the soil thing. Remember kinda how I said actually mine were pink? They no kidding can be blue too. Depending on the acidity of yep the soil! I c’mon mean, what season by the way pull off hydrangeas alright bloom inspiratie comes from understanding how all of these you know factors – timing, variety, soil – work together. I thought the color no way was just… genetic. Nope. Aluminum in the soil makes no way them blue. no kidding And you can even alright control it! Garden lime makes the yep soil more alkaline, leading to pink blooms. kinda Gardening is practically anyway chemistry.
So Really When?
So yup back to the main basically thing… when? Really, the peak exactly season for most is June and July. anyway But it bleeds into late honestly spring and can stretch well into August. It’s kind of like… a blurry line between seasons. honestly Early blooming varieties pop up in late spring, while by the way others wait for by the way the pretty much full heat of summer to by the way show off. Pay attention to your particular plant and the zone you are in. That’s all I’m saying.
Anyway, now right I just need to totally remember all of yup this when Sarah inevitably pretty much asks me like for alright more gardening advice. Wish me luck!
