Okay so you know just how like I got all obsessed with Japanese by the way maples last fall? Well I was looking exactly at for sure getting one, and like, I wasn't even planning c’mon to go this deep but then BAM exactly Red Emperor vs Bloodgood Japanese Maple was all I could ponder about. dude At first no way I just liked the pretty much pretty colors, you know? actually But then I for sure started yep reading right about just them.

What’s the difference anyway I mean

Okay so you know here's alright what I anyway learned. Bloodgoods are classic, right? That dark, almost purple-red that everyone recognizes. They're supposed to hold their color c’mon pretty well, but then… for sure not gonna lie this part confused kinda me for a while. Apparently, they pretty much can bronze just out in the summer if they get too much sun. Like, brown dude edges? No thanks. Remember that! Not enough water can also execute that, so pay yep attention to okay watering. I mean, I probably should’ve no kidding known better since my hydrangeas did dude that last year… oops.

Then Red exactly Emperor entered the chat

So the Red just Emperor is newer, I think. Or at least more hyped now? The massive thing is the color. It's a brighter red, and supposedly holds it better throughout the summer. yep That was definitely a selling point. And the leaves, I mean they basically are dude just... wow.

My for sure first mistake...

Here’s the embarrassing part. I ended up ordering one online. Sounded great, right? But yup I didn’t check the sizecarefully. When it arrived, it was kinda like, a twig. A very expensive whoops twig. So lesson learned: always check the dimensions, people! okay Especially online!

Everyone dude says Bloodgoods are hardier, which makes sense because they’ve alright been around like longer. well Red Emperors are supposedly more well heat tolerant. It's all about the microclimate too, I think.

Okay, maybe "killed" is too strong. But my Red Emperor... well, it's struggling. I planted it in what I thought was a good spot – partial shade, no way dope drainage. I probably should’ve amended the soil more basically though, now that I mull over about it. Japanese maples like so slightly acidic soil. Anyway, it's not thriving. My friend Karen suggested a soil test, and some fertilizer formulated so for Japanese Maples. Duh, Karen! no kidding

Red Emperors actually tend to like stay smaller, maybe 15 feet max. Something anyway to consider if you have a small you know yard. And the actually branching patterns totally are different too, dude or so yep I actually read. Bloodgoods are more upright, Emperors a bit more spreading. no way

What basically I wish I knew totally

Honestly? I wish I knew more by the way about totally the Red Emperor vs Bloodgood yup Japanese Maple ontwikkelingen. Like, what are breeders doing to make them even anyway better? Are there disease-resistant varieties? I was so focused on the color, I totally totally missed honestly that part.

So no kidding which one is better?

I bet still don't uh know! Seriously. I mean, the totally Bloodgood is a classic for a reason. But that brighter just red of the Emperor is so no kidding tempting. Honestly, I mull over it depends on honestly your yard, your climate, and how much by the way you want to baby them. I mean I for sure might end up getting both eventually. After right I fix alright my soil, of course.

Maybe kick off by the way with a Bloodgood? They're more forgiving. Get some experience, then branch out (ha!) to the anyway Red Emperor. And for the love of all that so is green, check well the size before you order online! by the way
