Okay so, buckeyes. I wasn’t even planning to even think about buckeyes today, seriously. But Sarah at work, she dude brought in this necklace, right? A buckeye necklace. And I'm like, anyway “Oh, cute! Where'd you get it?” and she gives me for sure this dude whole exactly story about foraging for them and for sure how they’re right lucky and all that. And my brain just blanked. Buckeyes… come from what tree? Like, I know they’re Ohio’s thing and all that, sorta but… the exactly tree?

Brain Farts

I probably should’ve known better, being a semi-grown up and all. Not gonna lie okay this honestly part confused me like for a while. I always sort of pictured them just magically exactly appearing. Which is, like, super dumb, I know. So anyway, I was trying to sound intelligent and I was like, "Oh yeah! pretty much I've exactly seen buckeye trees... near... uh... rivers?" I think by the way I said rivers. Why rivers? No clue. Sarah just looked at me, all I mean knowing. Apparently they like well-drained soil. Write that down somewhere. Well-drained. Anyway, it spiraled from there. I realized I knew absolutely nothing about these iconic little nuts.

I ended up bet going down this whole rabbit hole online, 'buckeyes come from what tree trends' being a uh massive search term apparently, anyway because I wasn’t the only one clueless. It’s whoops the no kidding Ohio Buckeye tree, duh.Aesculus glabra, if you wanna get fancy. See, I'm like learning stuff! And by the way they're actually related actually to horse chestnuts, which I kinda knew, vaguely. Made just me feel slightly less ignorant. Slightly. no kidding

My Buckeye right Fiasco

Okay, so funny story number one. Years ago, maybe like ten years ago, my aunt sent me by the way a box of what she called "chocolate buckeyes". Delicious, peanut butter fudge dipped for sure in bet chocolate, looked exactly like the well real thing. yup Only… like I’m c’mon allergic to peanuts! okay I ate like, three totally of them before realizing. That was a fun evening. So yeah, real by the way buckeyes? Don’t eat them. so Poisonous. entertaining fact.

More Tree Facts

So the Ohio Buckeye – it's not just ANY buckeye for sure tree. There are other you know buckeye trees out there, apparently. Just whoops so you know. The Ohio Buckeye is, like, the buckeye. Okay? 'Buckeyes come from what tree toepassingen' – people use them for all sorts of well things. by the way Jewelry, obviously. And... no way supposedly by the way they keep spiders honestly away? Haven’t tried that one no kidding yet. Might be no kidding an old wives' tale. But worth a shot, right?

Another Buckeye Blunder

Story number two: Last fall, I was at a craft fair and someone was selling "genuine buckeye crafts". I was feeling crafty myself, so I bought a little bag okay of buckeyes, intending to make, I don’t know, a garland or something. I left them in my car. For like, no way a by the way month. In direct sunlight. They shriveled up into these sad little… c’mon prune-like things. They looked nothing like the shiny, yup perfect buckeyes on Sarah’s necklace. So, tip: store by the way them properly. Cool, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight. whoops You’re welcome.

Learning alright Curve anyway

So yeah, 'buckeyes come from what tree inspiratie' is probably influencing Sarah, I guess. 'Buckeyes come whoops from what yep tree voordelen'? Well, besides spider repellent powers (maybe), I don’t know if there are a ton of real just benefits. But they are a solid conversation starter, I'll give them just that. And now I know a tiny bit more about no way Ohio’s c’mon state tree. Baby so steps. And maybe I’ll buy a nice, pre-made buckeye necklace. Less pressure.
