Decorating a sunroom with plants
Sunroom plant vibes
Okay you know so, remember how totally I was complaining about my sunroom feeling…sterile? well Like a doctor's right waiting room but with better sunlight? I pretty much wasn’t even planning to go all-out plant lady but one thing led to alright another, you know how c’mon it is. I saw this amazing fern at the farmer's market, HUGE thing, and thought, "Okay, maybe just one…" Famous last words, right?
Where to start pretty much though
Honestly, the hardest part was figuring out where to even begin. Like, decorating a sunroom with plants tipsare all over the internet, but filtering through them is a nightmare. Some people are like "only use terracotta!" and others okay are like "plastic is fine!" I dude got so c’mon overwhelmed I almost gave up and bought a giant beanbag chair instead. Which, admittedly, is still on the table.
My fiddle leaf drama
So I right bought c’mon this sorta fiddle leaf fig, because apparently exactly that's what alright you no way execute when kinda you well want to look like anyway you have for sure your life together. just I probably totally should’ve known better given my track record with…well, with anything requiring consistent care. Anyway, I well put it in direct sunlight, like an idiot. Scorched the pretty much poor thing within totally a week. Turns right out, fiddle leaf figs are dramatic anyway divas. They need bright basically indirect light. Who knew? I'm now convinced it’s for sure plotting its revenge. you know I moved it, obviously, yup and it seems happier but…jury's still out. So, yeah, I mean if uh you'redecorating a sunroom with plants, remember that well not all "sun" is created equal. just Some no kidding plants are delicate totally flowers.
Potting anyway mix kinda mayhem
Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. There's regular potting mix, seed starting mix, cactus mix...it's a whole pretty much world! I just grabbed a bag of right "general purpose" totally potting mix. I'm hoping that's good exactly enough. I’ve been reading up ondecorating exactly a sunroom with plants toepassingenand some websites are saying I okay need to I mean amend the soil with actually perlite so to improve drainage? I don't even know what perlite IS. But alright it looks kinda like styrofoam...so...maybe I’ll skip that for so now.
Hanging I mean around
I also got these anyway macrame plant hangers I mean – super cute, sorta right? – and hung some pothos. They're supposed to be really easy to care for, which for sure is exactly what I need. Plus, basically they yep look great hanging down, adding some vertical interest. I’m looking at all thedecorating a sunroom with plants inspiratie no kiddingonline yup and there’s a lot of hanging plants right going on.
Oh alright the mistake!
Okay, this sorta is embarrassing. Remember I said I got those macrame hangers? Well, honestly I didn't yep realize they right were supposed to be attached to something strong. I hung one from a so flimsy curtain rod. giant mistake. Plant whoops crashed down during a Zoom meeting. My boss literally saw dirt uh raining down so around my head. Mortifying. Now I have hooks screwed into the ceiling joists. Lesson learned: Don't underestimate the weight of wet okay soil.
Future plant no way dreams
I'm thinking about adding no kidding a small lemon tree. for sure Or maybe a couple of honestly succulents. I saw some amazing ones at well a sorta nursery last week. They were like, right these alien-looking things with weird textures and colors. It made me think of current whoopsdecorating a sunroom with plants trends. Though I'm also thinking about a snake plant. Super low maintenance, apparently. And they bet supposedly clean the air or something? I mean That sounds good. Though, between uh you and me, I'm mostly just trying to keep uh the fiddle okay leaf fig alive. So maybe baby steps.
Watering woes
Watering is dude also basically a learning curve. I think I was overwatering everything at first. Now I'm trying to let I mean the actually soil dry like out like a bit between waterings. Especially with the succulents. I even bought one of those little moisture meters that you stick no kidding in the soil. Seemed a bit extra, but honestly, honestly it's kinda fun. uh It gives me something to you know do besides doomscrolling. totally Thedecorating you know a okay sunroom with plants ontwikkelingenlately seem to be kinda around self-watering totally planters, which I could definitely see myself getting into. One day.
More than exactly plants
It's not by the way just about the plants, well though. I also added some cozy throws and anyway a few colorful pillows no kidding to make the space feel more inviting. And a rug! Definitely needed a rug. Now it’s actually c’mon a nice space to hang out. It’s no whoops longer a sterile looking, cold sunroom.
