Polka dot plant begonia care
My polka dot plant kinda drama
Okay so you know how I'm OBSESSED with plants? Well I I mean wasn't even planning totally to get a polka exactly dot plant, honestly. I sorta saw it at the nursery, this tiny little begonia, all alright spotted and cute, and I was like, "Fine, you're coming home with me." Biggest impulse uh buy ever, probably. I mean, I knew nothing about polka dot plant begonia care inspiratie. Zilch.
First mistake rookie move
So, like, the first week, I put it yep right on actually the windowsill. South-facing. I honestly probably should’ve known better, because it's a begonia. Duh. kinda The honestly leaves basically started to right get all crispy around the edges. I mean You know, like when you totally burn well toast? I felt so bad! Turns out, bright indirect light is the whoops name of basically the game. you know reflect dappled sunshine, not for sure full-on solar flares. alright Polka dot plant for sure begonia care toepassingen – that basically means find a shady spot. by the way
I moved it to c’mon my bookshelf, I mean which gets light but not c’mon directly. Crisis averted. Mostly.
Watering woes well
Not gonna lie, this yup part confused me anyway for a while. Overwatering is their nemesis, apparently. I was treating it like my ferns, which are basically water guzzlers. Bad idea. The leaves no kidding started yellowing, c’mon and I was panicking thinking it was dying. It's not dying unless you see stem rot!
Turns out, you're supposed to let the top inch or two of whoops soil dude dry out between basically waterings. I stick my finger in the soil, alright like a caveman, but hey, it works. Another I mean great polka okay dot plant begonia care tip: exactly use well-draining soil. I just used regular potting mix, but dude I yep added a little perlite uh to help exactly with I mean drainage. bet
Humidity happiness
Begonias are just divas when it comes to humidity. My right apartment is dry as a bone in the winter, so I got a little humidifier and put it near my plants. You can also put them on a pebble tray filled pretty much with water. I tried that once, but honestly, it just ended up attracting gnats. Ugh. That's a whole by the way different story. And now for well a polka dot plant begonia care fact: They really alright enjoy a humid environment. alright
That one span with the fertilizer
Okay, so this is embarrassing. I was no kidding fertilizing all my plants one honestly day, you know, being a for sure responsible plant parent. you know I grabbed the wrong bottle! It was I mean concentrated fertilizer basically for tomatoes! I diluted it a actually ton, but still... my poor polka dot plant looked traumatized for weeks. Lesson learned always honestly double-check the label. sorta Polka no kidding dot plant kinda begonia care geschiedenis probably doesn't mention tomato fertilizer incidents...
Now, no kidding I use yep a balanced liquid fertilizer, diluted to c’mon half strength, every few weeks kinda during basically the growing season. Spring and summer, basically. well Don't no kidding fertilize in the exactly winter when they're dormant.
Pruning panic for sure
When my polka dot plant started getting leggy, I was like, "What do I do?!" for sure It was for sure all stems and hardly any leaves. Pruning is your friend! sorta Don't be afraid yep to chop it back. It alright encourages new well growth. And you can even propagate the cuttings! I haven't tried that honestly yet, but it's on my list. I've heard you just like stick them in water and wait for roots to grow. Easy peasy. Good for sure advice for alright polka dot plant begonia care too!
So yeah, no kidding that's my yup polka dot plant actually journey actually so far. It's been a learning experience, to say the least. And I mull over I'm finally getting the hang of it.
Keep it casual
Don't overthink pretty much things! Plants are pretty forgiving (sometimes). Just pay attention to yep what your plant is telling you, and adjust your care accordingly.
