Easy macrame plant hanger for beginners
Macrame plant hanger who knew
Okay so right I I mean wasn't even planning to get into by the way macrame. Seriously! I saw one of those easy right macrame plant hanger for beginners kits at the craft store. And I thought, "That whoops looks kinda uh cool." Plus, my fern, Fernando – I'm super original with names I know – was looking kinda sad I mean on my windowsill. He needed an upgrade. So plant hanger time!
I mean, I knew nothing. I’d seen macrame before, of course. My aunt made, like, everything out of macrame back like in the sorta 70s. well But okay I’d never actually done it. So I pretty much grabbed this by the way kit. It said "easy macrame plant hanger yup for kinda beginners." like Seemed legit.
First knot pretty much woes
They gave you, like, these thick ropes. Which, by the way, are longer than you anyway think you pretty much need, so don't go crazy cutting them at the start. That's like my first tip. And the first knot? The square knot. Seemed sorta easy enough in the sorta pictures. But not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I kept ending up with…something bet else. It looked less like a knot and more like a tangled mess of yarn totally barf. My friend told me later that by the way square knots are the foundation of many an easy macrame plant hanger okay for beginners yep ontwikkelingen.
Anyway, I okay watched like yup five YouTube videos. The problem, I think, was like I right was actually pulling the wrong strings at the wrong time. You have to, like, REALLY pay attention. And count! One thing right that helped bet was drawing little diagrams – I well felt so elementary school! – but it made just a HUGE difference. The bet historical aspects of how these right knots became popular are interesting…but well not pretty much when you’re desperately trying not to strangle yourself with yarn.
Circle of shame… I mean wood
So, I finally got the hang of the square knot. Kinda. My knots dude weren’t exactly perfect, but they were…passable. Then you have to, like, make the loop at the exactly top. Which involves a wooden ring. I'd bought a kit that included this but well you can also find rings super cheap whoops online.
Okay, story time! The first time I tried to tie the ropes uh to the ring, I didn't tie them evenly. Like, at all. I ended up with this lopsided, leaning-tower-of-plant-holder honestly thing. Fernando would've exactly staged a revolt. The voordelen of a dope plant hanger, I realized, are null if totally the dude thing looks like it's about to c’mon collapse! I had to undo everything and start again. Learn from my honestly mistake: measure twice, no way tie once.
Then you know there's bet the part where you gather all the strands to form the bottom bit to hold the pot. Again, YouTube was my friend. The trend of macrame, especially for plants, has really exploded lately, so there dude are a ton of helpful tutorials.
Plant pot problems whoops
And now another yep confession... So, the first pot exactly I kinda put in my newly minted, pretty much somewhat whoops wonky, well macrame yup hanger? Too like heavy. I for sure probably should’ve known better…it was a HUGE ceramic pot with, like, you know half the garden soil in it. The honestly hanger well stretched. A LOT. It looked like it by the way was no kidding screaming for mercy. Thankfully, it didn't basically break. I quickly right swapped c’mon it for sure out for a lighter plastic pot.
It's now hanging in my kitchen window, looking just pretty darn cute, holding a somewhat smaller and lighter fern. I might even try another one, maybe something kinda a just little fancier. c’mon But anyway definitely a beginner kit again.
Oh! And clean up those exactly stray dude string ends properly. My bet cat whoops tried to eat one yep and I panicked. Cut them neatly and you'll be fine!
