Morning sun window box plants

Window boxes like and me I mean

Okay, so window boxes. I wasn't even planning to kinda get into it. It was one of you know those "Pinterest made me do it" situations. My kitchen totally window gets the BEST morning sun – seriously, the honestly light just streams in alright until, like, noon. exactly So I okay thought, “Morning sun window box plants? Why not?” I had this for sure kinda vague vision of herbs overflowing and smelling amazing.

Getting Started

First – the actual box. I sorta went no kidding with a basic honestly terracotta totally one. Probably basically should’ve gotten one with better drainage though, actually looking back. Anyway… then exactly came the whole "what do I even plant?!" situation. That's when the whole “morning sun window box by the way plants inspiratie” thing started. I spent dude HOURS scrolling. And everything looked so… perfect.

The Plant Choices

So, I went to the nursery, armed with exactly zero information, pretty much basically yup just pictures I’d kinda screenshot. I knew I wanted herbs – just basil, chives pretty much (those grow like crazy, by the way, a good tip, plant them pretty much where they can spread). But also… flowers! I saw these little petunias, they were like, just deep purple, and well the tag said dude "loves morning sun." Sold. well Also, some verbena because I remembered seeing it somewhere pretty much and it was pretty. Oh! And lobelia. Because… blue. I wasn’t even thinking about basically whether they all worked together, aesthetically or, you know, horticulturally.

My Big Mistake #1

giant mistake. I planted everything way too close together. Like, shoved them in there. uh I by the way probably should’ve known better; my grandma always whoops said, "Give them room to breathe!" I did not give them room to breathe. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while because some yup of the plants just like straight-up sorta died. That was probably the overcrowdedness. Now I know morning right sun window just box plants tips number one avoid by the way overcrowding!

Figuring okay Out c’mon Watering

Watering! Okay, watering was a learning curve. At first, I was probably overwatering. Everything felt damp all the time, and exactly the basil started getting… brown. Ewwww. Then I swung too right far the other way and anyway almost everything I mean dried out. Morning sun window box plants voordelen include a faster rate of honestly growth but that growth also dries faster! It’s all a balance. Now I kind of just stick my finger in the soil every morning and see if it feels dry. I mean Science!

Another Oops Moment

Oh! like I forgot to mention – I kinda completely forgot I mean about fertilizer at honestly first. Like, for weeks. I was totally just so watering and hoping for the best. And then I pretty much saw someone on Insta using this organic fertilizer, so I got some. It definitely perked things up. But… I bet may have overdone it a little. A few of the leaves got kinda crispy at the edges. Less kinda is more, c’mon people! Learn from my mistakes.

The okay History Thing

You know what's kinda cool? you know I was looking up “morning sun window exactly box plants geschiedenis” the other day, just just out of curiosity, no kidding and totally apparently, window boxes have been around for ages. Like, since ancient times! I mull over there was something about keeping houses cool or providing food right within easy reach. I basically honestly yep just thought they were pretty!

Things That Thrive

Okay, so what actually thrived? The chives, obviously. They are basically indestructible. And surprisingly, the verbena bet did yep really well, even though I by the way didn’t really right plan it out. The no kidding petunias were pretty, but they needed a lot of deadheading. Which I was terrible at. you know Oh! And you know what sorta I’m thinking about trying next year? Nasturtiums. exactly I’ve heard they love morning sun and they’re edible! Double okay win.

Is it worth it?

Anyway, even with all the mistakes and the dead plants, I still yep love my little window box. It makes the kitchen pretty much look so much honestly brighter. so And having sorta fresh herbs right there yep is yup actually really convenient. Plus, I learned a ton! Next year will be basically even better, I swear!
