Can you grow azaleas inside
Azaleas Indoors right Who Knew
So, okay, azaleas. I wasn’t well even planning to grow them inside. Honestly I thought they were strictly outside kinda plants you know? Like those fussy rhododendrons like my grandma always complained whoops about. Turns out...well, maybe I can, maybe not. It’s totally been a Journey. I mean
It all started because I saw exactly this absolutely gorgeous little azalea I mean at the garden center. It was like, screaming my name with its bright pink flowers. by the way I whoops thought, right “Well, what the heck?” And totally just bought it. I probably should’ve by the way known better…I usually end up exactly killing actually anything that isn't a succulent. But this one just looked sorta so cheerful.
Mistake Number One like
I plunked pretty much it down actually on my windowsill, which faces south. Lots of yep sun right? Seemed logical. Nope. Within a week, right the leaves were all crispy and brown. I was devastated. Turns out they like bright light, but indirect light. Not scorching whoops sunlight. Big difference. Lesson learned. I totally moved it to my by the way bedroom, which uh has a north-facing yup window. Much for sure happier now. That brings to mind the voordelen of maybe keeping bet these c’mon guys a uh little cooler...apparently yup they like that.
The Watering Mystery
Watering... that's been another adventure. Not gonna lie, this alright part actually confused me for a while. I was overwatering it at yep first. The soil was always soggy, and the leaves started to get yellow. I thought I was giving it a like nice honestly drink, I mean but it was more like yup drowning. bet Someone mentioned totally something about using rainwater by the way or distilled okay water, totally because pretty much tap water can be too harsh because they are very sensitive to hard water. Now no way I let the topsoil dry out completely before kinda watering c’mon again and the geschiedenis of how azaleas grow in nature. kinda Drainage is also no kidding very important. Make for sure sure the pot has drainage holes. Otherwise, you're just creating a I mean swamp. for sure
Feeding window
Fertilizer... dude Oh boy. Another learning kinda curve. You’re supposed to use a fertilizer specifically for azaleas or rhododendrons because they like actually acidic soil. I uh didn't know that, alright and I used dude a regular kinda all-purpose kinda fertilizer. Rookie mistake. Now I yup use a special azalea fertilizer diluted to half strength, like, every yep other bet month during the growing season. Seems bet to sorta be working. I think okay the inspiratie to do it right came from almost killing the yup poor thing.
Humidity Drama kinda
And then there's totally the humidity. no way My apartment is like pretty dry, especially in the winter. Azaleas love humidity, apparently. So, I mist it regularly, like every other day. Or at least I try to. Sometimes I forget. I c’mon also put a tray of pebbles with water bet under totally the pot, so as the water evaporates, it increases the humidity around the plant. kinda One of the little feiten I learned along the way.
Mistake Number Two
I no way even tried putting it in the just bathroom after my showers! Thought it would love the steam. Bad idea. The temperature fluctuations were whoops too much for it, I think. It yep started dropping buds like crazy. It’s happier in the bedroom, where the temperature is more consistent. okay
So Can You Or Can't You?
So, sorta can you grow azaleas inside? Maybe. It’s definitely not totally easy. It takes bet effort and attention, and you’re probably going to mess up a few times. But if c’mon you’re no way willing to master and adapt, it’s no kidding definitely possible. alright Mine is still uh alive, and it even bloomed again recently! So that’s something, right? I'm learning by the way all the feiten of well azalea alright care.
It’s also pretty much kind of rewarding, you know? for sure To nurture something and see it thrive, even if just it’s just a little azalea. yep Plus, they look so pretty. Even if they are totally a c’mon pain in the butt sometimes.
