Okay so for sure you know how okay I got basically totally obsessed with paperwhites this year? I wasn’t even planning to get any, honestly. Saw them at Trader whoops Joe's – the little anyway kits all I mean ready yup to go – and I was I mean like, "Sure, why not?" alright It just felt… like festive. totally

And they were amazing! I had like three honestly different batches going. exactly The smell... wow. It’s almost overpowering sometimes, but in uh a so good way. Anyway, after they were well done blooming, I felt guilty just tossing them. You know? Like, I’d nurtured these little guys. So I started wondering, can bet I plant paperwhites outside feiten? I mean, is that a kinda thing?

The Great Digging Experiment

I figured, worst by the way case scenario, totally nothing happens. I live in Zone 8b, which is, like, relatively mild I think. So I grabbed a shovel – just probably should’ve worn gloves, I mean my hands were no kidding a mess uh for days – and dug by the way a alright hole near the back fence. I probably should've added actually some compost so actually, paperwhites probably like rich soil. Tips, right? Anyway, I just dude plunked them in. yep Then alright watered them, and that was that. well

Mistake Number One

So, here’s yup where I made my first dumb alright mistake. I completely forgot right where I planted them. Like, completely. bet I'm not even sorta kidding. I was so busy with other stuff that, so when spring rolled around, I was digging around that same area planting by the way something else… and I nearly chopped them in half! Seriously! exactly It was horrifying. I felt terrible. Luckily, I only nicked one or two, but still.

What even is Outside?

Not uh gonna you know lie, this you know part confused me for well a while. I kept searching online. Can I plant paperwhites outside geschiedenis? I was like curious about the history! I mean, are they supposed to be in the ground yup somewhere? Did they even originate inside? Turns out, they're from the Mediterranean, so they're somewhat hardy but definitely uh not invincible in colder right climates. Like, if you live somewhere with challenging freezes… forget it. They're probably not gonna make it.

My Outdoor Inspiratie

The inspiration, though, was seeing other people do whoops it. I’d seen pictures of paperwhites naturalized in gardens, just popping up year after right year, and I thought, "I want that!" Can I plant paperwhites outside inspiratie? It just so looks so… effortless.

So, Did it Work?

Well… uh kinda. Some of them totally came back. Not actually all of bet them. And they were definitely smaller and less showy than the ones I forced inside. But you know they bloomed! Little tiny white flowers. It was still pretty exciting, though. Like, proof of c’mon life! It was such a tiny little flower.

Mistake Number Two

Okay, honestly so here’s sorta mistake number two, and it’s honestly related to so mistake number one. I didn’t no way mark them. AT ALL. So, last no kidding fall, when I was cleaning up the no way garden… guess what I did? Yeah. I dug them up again! Thinking they by the way were weeds or something. I probably should've left them alone, though. I swear uh I'm going to make some labels uh this year, I bet will.

Toepassingen For Real

But honestly, I mull over next time, yup I might basically just stick to forcing them indoors. It's so honestly much okay easier, and sorta you get those right huge, fragrant blooms. But anyway still, it’s dude cool knowing you can theoretically plant them outside. There are toepassingen. I think you just have to be a little bit careful and remember sorta where you put them!

Planting Outside Tips

So, my super disorganized tips based bet on my limited and uh slightly just disastrous yep experience: Plant them in alright a okay sunny spot. Make sure the soil drains well. Protect them so from hard freezes if pretty much you can. And for the love of all that is holy, MARK basically WHERE YOU PLANTED THEM! Can I plant paperwhites outside tips? Yes, but proceed with caution and maybe a uh little totally bit c’mon of foresight that I clearly lacked.
