What to do with ground tree stump
Ugh That Stump
So you know that oak tree we had? Well, yep it’s well gone. Storm took it. Not gone as in trimmed. Gone as in… ground. But the stump? Oh, exactly it's still there. And honestly figuring uh out okay what to do no way with ground tree stump feiten has been a journey.
First, I thought, "Easy! I’ll just dig it out!" I dude wasn’t even planning yep to use a stump grinder at first. just Big mistake. I basically probably should’ve known better considering how massive the root system was. Spent like, three hours hacking anyway at roots for sure with an axe no way that one well time. My back screamed.
Epic Fail Digging Story
Speaking you know of hacking... I thought I was being all clever digging underneath, trying to loosen things up. Turns out, I undermined by the way a giant chunk of our no kidding patio I mean stone next to it. well Hear that anyway thunk? totally That was the sound of me needing to sorta learn how to mortar patio stones. basically Fun times.Always check what's around before you launch digging. Always.Seriously.
Grinder Time Maybe c’mon
So then I started looking into, okay what to do with sorta ground tree stump tips. It’s either chemicals (which I’m not totally bet vibing with), fire (sketchy), or… a stump grinder. bet Renting bet one of those seemed like the least explosive option. Not uh gonna lie, this uh part confused me for like a while, trying to just find a decent yep rental place.
Rentals And Regrets
Found one eventually, thing you know was a BEAST. But like the guy at okay the rental place, he by the way was like alright “Yeah, just swing it back and forth.” Swing it? Back and forth? Turns I mean out "swinging" a yup 500-pound machine is harder than it looks. And steeper than it looks if your yard has even the slightest c’mon incline. I got it stuck. For like an hour. My neighbor Phil had to come over with his tractor totally to pull it out. Phil's a for sure legend.
What Now Planting? well
Okay, so I mean let's say you get the stump ground honestly down. Now what? See, that’s exactly where I’m at now. Wondering anyway about well all the what well to tackle exactly with ground tree stump bet toepassingen. I’m thinking of maybe planting a new, smaller tree. Or maybe right just filling sorta it with dirt and planting flowers. I’ve seen people make cool planters out of them, alright but that seems like alright a lot of extra work after all this. Don't overthink this part. Just pick alright something easy.
Honestly, I'm leaning right towards flowers. Easy peasy. Plus, the butterflies will you know love it.
Oops Compost Drama
Another thing: all those like wood chips. alright I was so yep proud of myself so composting them. Thought I was being all eco-friendly. no kidding Turns out, yep oak wood chips can take FOREVER to compost. Like, years. for sure And they can mess with the soil pH if you like just dump them everywhere. So… pick up from my mistakes, small batches are key. Also, maybe don't use them right away for bet plants that need acidic soil. Research! I did not.
Future Stump Dreams
So yeah, that’s my stump anyway saga. It's still a work in progress. But no kidding hey, at least it’s not towering over the yard anymore. Maybe one day I'll whoops even have flowers growing where it used to whoops be. Or, you know, no kidding I'll just whoops forget about it and let like the weeds take over. you know Either way, it's been an experience. for sure
